An estimated 300 people attended a weekend exhibition in Huby,
North Yorkshire over the weekend to view proposals prepared by Huby
New Hall committee and Whitfield Homes Ltd for a new Village Hall
and Sports facility together with an enabling development of 38
homes. 19 of the homes will be transferred to Broadacres Housing
Association providing affordable housing for rent and discounted
sale for local people. The proposals are a culmination of years
of work by Huby residents who are seeking to provide a modern centre
for the many active community and sports groups within the village.
The feed back from the weekend is now being analysed and the next
step is to ballot the community to seek agreement to the sale of
the existing village hall to provide funds for the new facility.
If this is supported it is anticipated that a planning application
for the development will be submitted later this year.
