10 ways to add warmth to your new home style this autumn

Transform your spacious new home into a cosy autumnal oasis from the cold. Follow these top interior design tips to warm up your new home this autumn.

1. Throw on a Bed Throw

The bedroom is a place we first face the day and set our morning mood. That’s why we understand the importance of building well-sized, bright and airy bedrooms. It’s easy to transform your new bedroom into a cosy burrow with soft bed throws, extra scatter cushions and even a faux-fur rug.

2. Autumn Leaves

Ditch the floral bouquet in favour of rich autumn colours mixed with botanicals and leaves. Include twigs and berries as we move closer to winter. Your autumn posies will look fab dotted about our open-plan kitchen-dining-family spaces. Place them in jam jars around the dining table or pot them on the window sill and around the sink.

3. Veg Bowl

Building in market towns, we love to source seasonal and local produce. Pick up some winter veg and display this in your fruit bowl on your breakfast bar. Mix green, brown and purple veg such as sweet potatoes, marrows and aubergines.

4. Soft Lighting

You’ll soon find yourself switching on the lights earlier and earlier each day. In our large, spacious living rooms, opt for soft ways to brighten the space this autumn such as lamps and string lights dotted around the rooms.

5. Fire up your Senses

Another way to bring light into the home is with candles. Pick up wintry scents such as sandalwood and cinnamon. Candles are great bathroom accessories, adding character to the modern, high-spec bathrooms we install in our new homes. What’s more the scent will draw you into the tub on a cold autumn night.

6. Fur

Faux-fur throws, rugs and cushions instantly add a cosy vibe to any room. Also look out for faux-sheepskin or woolly cable-knit cushions and blankets, which will get you snuggling up on the sofa looking out onto the wintry countryside scene.

7. Luxe Robes

A couple of coat hooks is all you need to add wintry texture to your bathroom. Hang up soft bath robes and place fluffy slippers onto the floor tiles below (fitted as standard in all our homes). This adds a luxury winter feel to your bathroom.

8. Fire Wood

You’ll find interior designers dressing any new home this autumn using logs to create an autumnal centrepiece around the fireplace. You can place them around the fire, throw them into a wicker basket or have a neat purpose-built store tucked into the corner of the room.

9. Tower of Towels

Our new homes have great storage spaces and utility rooms built in. These are great for tucking away beach towels and bed linen. This winter, pull out your best towels and tower them on a stool in the bathroom or folded over the tub to add warmth and texture to the room.

10. Super Sofa

Our homes offer modern open-plan interiors with bi-folding doors to combine the inside with the great outdoors. There’s no better feeling than cosying up on the sofa under oodles of blankets and surrounded by cushions to look out onto the wintry world outside, hibernating in your new home.
